Establishment & Growth

Shree Vidyadhiraja College of Arts and Science, located in Thevakavu, Karunagappally, Kollam, Kerala, was established in 1995 as a self-financing institution affiliated with the University of Kerala.

The college is managed by the Shree Vidyadhiraja Vidya Samajam, a registered charitable society founded in 1975 under the Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act.

Established with a modest beginning, the college has steadily expanded its horizons—introducing diverse academic programs, upgrading infrastructure, and broadening its educational vision. Today, it stands as a dynamic and inclusive centre of higher learning, dedicated to nurturing a broad spectrum of learners.

Founding Vision

Sri. R. Ramachandran Nair

The college was founded by Sri. R. Ramachandran Nair, former Chief Secretary to the Government of Kerala and the first Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University, Kalady.

He initiated the Vidyadhiraja movement in 1971, leading to a revival of interest in the life and teachings of Sree Vidyadhiraja Chatampi Swamikal, a renowned social reformer and spiritual leader.

Vidyadhiraja Vidya Samajam runs several other educational institutions including schools all across Kerala, a Homeopathic medical college, and a pharmacy college.
